Dance to Your Health

One of the easiest ways to incorporate regular exercise into your busy schedule is with dance. Dancing doesn’t require leaving your home. You don’t have to join a gym. You don’t have to wear special clothes, though you can if you like. All you need is some music and a little time alone.

Some of the great advantages of simply dancing around the house any old way you like include:

  • You tend to move every muscle group over time, unlike exercises where the motions become repetitive.
  • This lack of repetitive motion reduces the chances of muscle strain.
  • You tend to work out harder than you realize, because you’re having fun.
  • You tend to work up a good sweat, which releases toxins from the body.
  • Music you love can help keep you going past the time a treadmill would have you bored to tears.

Benefits of dancing

There’s more, though. Dancing is both cardio and muscle strengthening in nature. If you don’t have time, or don’t take the time, for a solid cardio and strength training workout, dance could give you the best workout for the time you’re willing to invest.

Dance can be very low impact, which prevents injury and even surgeries down the road.

Dancing with style?

If you want an extra challenge, go right ahead and learn some actual dance steps. It doesn’t matter which style or form of dance you learn. Try lots to find the ones you enjoy most.

But there’s absolutely no need to learn dances. You can just turn on the music, let your body go, and see what happens. No matter how clumsy you are, you will still be burning calories, strengthening muscles, improving your cardiovascular system and raising your endorphin levels.
