You’re probably already familiar with the concept of meditation and its ability to relieve stress and make you happier. Meditation can also help you improve your health.
State of mind
Meditation teaches us to put aside all the distractions and interruptions of life and focus clearly. Practiced consistently, it helps us gain overall better clarity of mind and a feeling of inner peace. Meditation also combats the release of hormones that make us feel stress. One who meditates regularly is more capable of letting stress roll off the back instead of getting under the skin. This contributes to improvements in blood pressure.
Psychology
Meditation can also help you figure out who you are, what you’re about and what makes you most happy. When you silence the conscious mind, fascinating ideas are free to come from the unconscious mind. It often turns out that deep down, you know far more about yourself and how to be happy than you realize – it’s just your conscious mind hasn’t been listening.
Contentment
Meditation can also help you discover contentment. Our conscious minds tend to think what would make us happy is lots of money, lots of things, lots of freedom. Through meditation, we can discover that there are ways to be content with the situations and possessions we have, and that if we are not, the solution may be to find new situations rather than to add more stuff to the ones we have.
Relationships
You may also find yourself sorting out relationships with others through meditation. As you become less uptight and more content, others will respond to this by being more relaxed with you. Conflict is less likely when everyone is more relaxed. Meditation can also help you sort out the small things from the big things, and stop concerning yourself with the small ones, and worry less about the big ones.
